1. Techné (but probably art in general) is not imitation of physis but deconstruction and reconstruction. Deconstruction is an intervention on the continuum of physis by tracing defined figures and therefore by discontinuing it.
The continuum cannot be manipulated, it is not manageable in any form, and it is not even properly speakable – except by negating the discrete.
The reconstructive moment after deconstruction is the combination of the figures traced in the continuum. Every reconstruction is poiesis – both as a productive gaze towards physis and as poetry that says things precisely because it draws them, evokes them, produces them. Poiesis becomes techné when the product of the productive gaze acquires the capacity to stand autonomously, that is, when the figures traced by sectioning the continuum are not only clear and distinct, but also when they give rise to a coherent and complete reconstruction. Techné reveals itself as something architectural.
2. A further evolution comes when the architecturally coherent and complete reconstruction will also be able to function autonomously, that is, when it will also be able to process autonomously the clear and distinct figures sectioned in the continuum simply through the form in which reconstruction is structured: then it will no longer be technè, but mechané, that is, techné capable of automathia.
As the reconstruction becomes more complex in the infinite gradualities of poiesis-techné-mechané sclae, the reconstruction itself determines – traces – the figures to be sectioned in the continuum of physis. Figures that are increasingly functional to the reconstruction self and less and less linked to the continuum – to the physis from which they are dissected.
For this reason, the reconstruction of the physis will never give the same deconstructed physis. Poiesis already returns a reconstruction that brings clarity and distinction to the continuum which by definition is indeterminate and indistinct. Even less the initial physis will be found again through technical reconstruction – the continuum has even less need to be coherent and complete, indeed, and the technical reconstruction reveals it as chaos. The mechané, capable of automathia, will ultimately be the inevitable negation of physis and indeed, due to the achieved level of complexity, it will reveal itself as a reconstruction capable of taking the place of physis, offering speakability, manageability and manipulability that physis radically denies. Once interrupted, the continuum is no longer continuum and physis becomes a backdrop that recedes as the reconstruction becomes more and more complex.
3. The reconstruction, achieved by recombination of the discrete figures sectioned in the continuum, is not univocal. There is no plan, program, or model of recombination that can be a measure of recombination so that a univocal and therefore unique recombination is not possible. There are more possibilities and since there is no reason why these are finite in number, there are infinite reconstruction possibilities.
At the beginning, when the reconstruction is poietic, it allows us to glimpse the traces of the continuum from which the finished and defined figures were dissected. The more complex it becomes, the more it distances itself from the continuum of physis, giving rise to technical reconstructions first and then mechanical ones. These reconstructions unfold until they reach outcomes that are not only unimaginable in the physis but not even in the initial poiesis. At the limit, they are even unimaginable in any immediately preceding step of complexification, after the mechané has also replaced techné.
As the physis, the continuum retreats towards the backdrop, the figures sectioned in the continuum determine the reconstruction less and less and it is the reconstruction that determines more and more the figures to be sectioned.
So, in the end, physis resolves itself into the mechané and mechané becomes the new physis.
