19. Divisione del lavoro – Division of Labour

“Costruire l’alternativa, a partire da ambiente, giustizia sociale, diritti, sanità pubblica”.
Questa la sintesi della compiaciuta e compiacente intervista che il direttore di Repubblica ha riservato a Elly Schlein all’annuale festa dello schicchismo di sinistra organizzata dall’organo ufficiale della Sinistra italiota (Clima, sanità e lavoro così potremo battere la destra al governo, di Silvia Bignami, La Repubblica, 10 giugno 2023).
Nessuna domanda cattiva, imbarazzante o fuori dalle righe, come farebbe un qualsiasi giornalista anche di modesta capacità – e come si indignerebbe a gran voce l’intellighenzia di Repubblica se non si trattasse del segretario del PD –  Ma tant’è…
Dunque ambiente, giustizia sociale, diritti, sanità pubblica. In buona sostanza: spesa pubblica.
Il debito colossale dello Stato, l’inefficienza della burocrazia, la pressione fiscale proibitiva, l’assenza di un Sistema-Paese competitivo capace produrre ricchezza da distribuire, evidentemente non sono cose che riguardano la Sinistra e quindi non è necessario avere un’opinione in merito. Figuriamoci delle soluzioni. La funzione storico-politica della Sinistra è come spendere le risorse. Come crearle e come costruire le condizioni necessarie perchè si creino, tocca ovviamente ad altri.
Perché per la Sinistra la politica non è grigiore tecnocratico. Non è fredda competenza gestionale di un sistema sempre più complesso. La politica è lotta, progettualità, è visionarietà, è utopia. È avventura romantica alla Che Guevara. Non si deve permettere che una visione aziendalistica della politica soffochi la capacità di pensare in grande, di porsi obiettivi arditi, di immaginare nuovi scenari…
Ecco.
Questa è stata anche la fermissima, appassionatissima, nobilissima convinzione di tutti i padri nobili che in vario modo hanno mandato in malora il Paese.
Lo Stato non deve essere un’azienda e così fare debiti è testimonianza di politica alta, perché è evidente a tutti che la ricchezza di una Nazione fiorisce spontaneamente e che il problema è solo distribuirla finalmente secondo uguaglianza – peccato solo che madre natura non funzioni in base al principio egualitario…
Così, tocca alla Società creare ricchezza, e allo Stato la distribuirla. Naturalmente, per la Sinistra, la politica riguarda lo Stato. La Società – cioè tutto quello che serve a creare ricchezza – non è di sua competenza.
Sua competenza è il rigore egualitario nella distribuzione, a cui deve provvedere lo Stato.
A mio padre e a mia madre, figli del Lumpenproletariat metalmeccanico del profondo Nord negli anni del boom, non è mai nemmeno passato per la testa che l’uguaglianza potesse essere un obiettivo e che l’assistenzialismo di Stato una soluzione. Il loro problema era la povertà, non l’uguaglianza.
Io ho scoperto solo molto tardi, dopo l’Università, che povertà e uguaglianza sono direttamente proporzionali – cioè che l’una cresce di pari passo con l’altra. I miei invece, quinta elementare e poi subito in officina, lo sapevano perfettamente fin dall’inizio. E siccome è di sinistra occuparsi di distribuire la ricchezza e non di crearla, essere di sinistra era qualcosa che loro non potevano permettersi. Erano troppo poveri.
La Sinistra non ha ancora capito quello che due poveri operai con la quinta elementare avevano chiarissimo. Anzi, se il problema è che gli operai non guardano più da quella parte, la soluzione è aprire dibattiti sui diritti dei gay e sull’antifascismo.
È la superiorità morale della Sinistra.

This is the summary of the pleased and complacent interview that the editor of  the newspaper La Repubblica reserved for Elly Schlein at the annual party of Left Chicism organized by the official organ of the Italian Left (Climate, health and work so we can beat the right in government, by Silvia Bignami, 10 June 2023).
No impertinent, embarrassing or out-of-line questions, as any journalist of even modest ability would do – and how loudly the intelligentsia of the La Repubblica would require if Elly Schlein weren’t the secretary of the Partito Democratico – But anyhow…So, environment, social justice, rights, public health. In essence: public spending.
The colossal debt of Italian State, the inefficiency of the bureaucracy, the prohibitive tax burden, the absence of a competitive country-system capable of producing wealth to be distributed: obviously these are not things that concern the Left and therefore it is not necessary to have an opinion about. Even less solutions. The historical-political function of the Left is how to spend resources. How to create resources to be distributed  and how to build the necessary conditions for them to be created, is obviously up to others.Because for the Left, politics is not technocratic greyness. It is not cold management competence of an increasingly complex system. Politics is struggle, planning, it is visionary, it is utopia. It’s a romantic adventure à la Che Guevara. A company-like vision of politics must not be allowed to stifle the possibility to think big, to set bold goals, to imagine new scenarios…
Well, this was also the very firm, very passionate, very noble conviction of all the noble fathers who in various ways sent our Country to ruin.
The State must not be a company and thus making debts is a proof of high politics, because it is clear to everyone that the wealth of a Nation flourishes spontaneously and that the problem is only to finally distribute it according to equality – it’s just a pity that mother nature doesn’t work according to the principle of equality…
Thus, it is up to the Society to create wealth, and to the State to distribute it. Of course, for the Left, politics is only about the State. The Society – that is, everything needed to create wealth – is not within its competence.
Its competence is the egalitarian rigor in distribution, which the State must ensure.
It never occurred to my father and mother, sons of the metalworking Lumpenproletariat of the deep North Italy during the boom years, that equality could be a goal and that State welfarism a solution. Their problem was poverty, not equality.
I discovered very late, after I graduated at the university, that poverty and equality are directly proportional – that is, one grows hand in hand with the other. My parents, on the other hand, just a few  years of school and then immediately to workshop, knew it perfectly from the beginning. And since it is leftist to be concerned with distributing wealth and not creating it, being leftist was something they couldn’t afford. They were too poor for being leftist…
The Left has not yet understood what two poor workers with few years of school had very clear. Indeed, if the problem is that the workers no longer look at left, the solution is to open debates on gay rights and anti-fascism.
This is the moral superiority of the Left.
