27. Ars gratia artis (2/2)
I veri naturalia. I naturalia, ipotesi meramente iniziale e mal definita, diventano irrilevanti.
(Fine)
There is an added value in the components that no longer has to do with their beginning. At a certain point, the component no longer belongs to the physis and becomes irreducible and impossible to be brought back to its beginning, to the occasion that determined its emergence. In the end – and at the limit – the component, ceasing all link with its own beginning, ceases to be a component of a parallel reconstruction and becomes a component and that’s it., that is pure artifice. The only obvious link that it maintains with physis is the need to be drawn from physis for its own construction, reducing physis to pure Bestand, to pure Kunst-stoff to be shaped.
Thus it is through the complete emancipation of the component from its link with physis – except as inevitable Bestand – that techné evolves into mechaniké. The charm of which is therefore not the imitatio naturae – the toy-mechanics of Aristotle and in general until the dawn of Modernity – but the autonomous production of what physis has most precisely and ontologically qualifying: the becoming, i.e. the motion and in particular the local motion in which also the change will be more and more translated, the possibility of having the natural motion (changing of place, lifting, ejection, compression, deformation, etc.) available at any time and always in clear and distinct conditions. Above all, where possible, more economical – that is, more efficient – than in physis, given that the effectiveness of physis in its processes does not go hand in hand with their efficiency.
Having motion available is the solution to the oldest problem of our wisdom as mortals. It was Parmenides who definitively configured motion as a problem, given that for him the solution was immobility. Perhaps, at the same price, immobility could have been problematized in the perspective that its solution was motion. Our wisdom history would probably have followed a different path – maybe chaos instead of einai…
Possessing motion – possessing the ability to induce a definite motion according to a definite form for all (and each) of the possible definite motions – is the consequence of Parmenides’ premise. This means that mechaniké is the daughter of the Parmenides sphairos. And of the Parmenides sphairos it reproduces – a parallel reconstruction – the motionless immutability of the functioning scheme: assuming that the definite motion A is set by the definite cause (or by a complex of definite contributing causes) B, at the moment unknown and perhaps even inaccessible, if B manages to produce A through an artifice (or a complex of artifices) C, we will necessarily have to conclude that B is the same as C. The isuue, once resolved technically, i.e. mechanically, will be – apart from asking why B should be hidden or inaccessible – to build, indeed rebuild a natural version of B – artificiallly reconstructed nature.
Investigating B in the end, once in possession of the motion that B would cause, becomes irrelevant. One can make it a noumenon and make A a phenomenon. Thus, perhaps, it is possible to maintain a minimum of awareness that C is ontologically a expedient – basically a renunciation due to impotence.
On the other hand, more simply, B can also be made to coincide with C, reconstructing in naturalibus what C is in naturalibus. This is the mechanism, the fixed functional scheme, which has led artificialia such as gravity and acceleration to become naturalia. The true naturalia. The naturalia, a merely initial and ill-defined hypothesis, become irrelevant. What remains in the end is the artificial that justifies itself.
